8 New BIM360 Product Updates that Enhance Workflows, Data Visualization & Collaboration

1. Project Management Updates: The BIM360 product team has released the following features, and as per BIM consulting firm, these will enable users to make project management module more robust and user friendly:

  • Updated Item-based submittal workflow: This makes the workflow more flexible by removing the reliance on Packages and by also enabling teams to process submittals efficiently.
  • New RFI Workflow Enhancements: Now, RFI creation will be available on Android devices. Apart from that, the enhancements include- an update to permissions, the ability to edit closed RFI’s and also modify RFI pushpins.
  • New enhancements to Meeting Minute Feature: This update will enable team members to connect documents, drawings and models from the Document Management module directly to a meeting record or item.

Card Library Enhancements: The users can now make the most of new filtering capabilities available within the issue cards, as it was difficult to view and analyze data as per the need of specific times. Additionally, they can now drill down to view ‘My Company Issues’, ’Due Date’ or ‘Status’ and easily navigate to the Issues tab in Document Management through a single click on the new ‘Go to Issues’ button.

3. Permissions API: To streamline the user’s workflows and increase efficiency, BIM 360 APIs are now available which will enable users, partners and any stakeholder on the project to create folders in BIM 360 and publish files directly to BIM 360 while also being able to read and write permissions.

4. Share File: With the latest features that allow users to collaborate by sharing files with the public using additional sharing options including email or link sharing, expiration dates or version sets. This feature is critical to the process as now the users can share the files within the project or outside the project without any troubles directly via BIM 360 Document Management.

5. Autodesk Construction Cloud Connect: Previously known as PlanGrid, BIM 360 has upgraded this feature to Construction Cloud Connect which provides an out-of-the-box, no-code platform so such that the stakeholders can create flexible integrations without relying on software engineering resources. This allows to simplify and to automate daily task management while driving productivity.

6. Cost Management Integrations: Make the most of cost management processes by merely integrating BIM 360 software with BIM 360 Cost Management. This API enhancement will allow stakeholders to connect their data, streamline workflows and reduce. Users can either integrate Cost management with Autodesk Construction Cloud Connect or Cost Management with Rhumbix’s Time and Material Tracking software based on the project needs and requirement.

7. Data Connection Preview: This update is here to change the game of data learning, analysis and better predictions for the future decision and to improve project success. The users with this data connect preview will be able to access data to understand trends and improve the tools they use to evaluate and make decisions.

8. Design Risk Management across Projects: With a design risk dashboard, BIM 360 wants to help eliminate any risks in Quality, Safety, and Design. This feature will enable executives to look at a glance the whole project and prioritize where to focus their attention. Executives will have access to the following new risk prediction cards:

  • Design Risk Heat map
  • Approval Reviews
  • Design Issues Status by Project
